GAMERS GAME TO GIVE BACK AGAIN

Gaming Chronicles returns once more to marathon game for Child’s Play Charity

(Monmouth County, New Jersey) – Starting Thursday, January 31st at 12:00 NOON EST, members and friends of GamingChronicles.com (http://www.GamingChronicles.com) are pitting the classic games of their youth up against their modern incarnations and beyond as they play nostalgic franchises and their newer counterparts. The gamers, who have been chronicling their experiences with their beloved hobby for just over three years, and are once again raising money for Child’s Play charity as they broadcast their marathon, dubbed GC Marathons: Nostalgic VS New, live online.

Looking to trump last year’s efforts, Gaming Chronicles’ crew is playing more than just Sonic, broadcasting longer than just the weekend, and looking to raise more than the heartwarming $1230 from January of 2012. This GC Marathon spans four days and features playing through old school and recent entries in some favored video game franchises, including Super Mario, Mega Man, Metroid, Spyro the dragon, Kirby, Tekken, Sonic the Hedgehog and more. Viewers can donate to Child’s Play in order to insert a specific title into the playlist, force certain players to continue through frustrating levels, or even punish players comically by delivering what the marathon creators have dubbed a “fail pie” to the face. The event will stream live and allow viewers to participate and communicate with those in attendance via chat, Twitter, and Facebook. On-air call-ins, prize giveaways and raffles, and the standard fanfare will be done (sing-a-longs, Q&A, etc).

The Child’s Play Charity (http://www.childsplaycharity.org) is a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in a network of hospitals worldwide. In 2012 alone, Child’s Play Charity raised $5,085,761 worth of toys, games, books, and cash. Gaming Chronicles is once again looking to do what they can. “Last year we were overwhelmed at what we were able to raise,” says event coordinator Matt Siciliano. “We’re just a little site, but we accomplished something that made each of us feel like we were able to make a difference in the lives of the children and families Child’s Play helps. This year we hope to simply do our best and entertain as well as spread the word about Child’s Play and the work they do.”

Look for updates and watch the event live on www.GamingChronicles.com or the Marathons page, starting at 12 Noon on January 31st!

The Sonic Marathon to raise money for Child’s Play has ended!

It’s happening this weekend! January 6th-8th it’s the Gaming Chronicles SONIC THE HEDGEHOG MARATHON FOR CHILD’S PLAY! Get ready to help us raise money so we can help make the world a little bit better for the families and children in it. The marathon starts at 12:01 AM on Friday morning, so make sure to come back and check in often! If you have any requests for the crew to fulfill for you live (singing a song, dancing, enacting scenes, you know all that quintessential live marathon stuff) when you make your donation you can make those requests by adding a comment on the Chip-In page!

The announcement has been made! Gaming Chronicles first ever gaming marathon will be Sonic The Hedgehog! We’ll celebrate the Blue Blur’s 20-year anniversary by doing our best to tackle some of his most memorable games! Will we make believers out of the GC crew that say they don’t like Sonic? Can we raise money for Child’s Play in the process? Will you tune into our live streaming event (via Ustream) and join in on the fun?

Your donations will affect the marathon in the following ways:

    • Punish us for failure via a “Fail Pie”. And we’ve activated the FAIL PIE! When a donation is made in honor of the FAIL PIE (currently a $4 donation will suffice) the pie comes out. If the current player loses a life during the level the pie is issued he will receive said pie to the face. If that player finishes his level the pie is passed to a player of their choice.
    • Keep a frustrated gamer playing through a tough level
    • Voting for the next game played
    • Earning yourself a shout out or hilarious request (performance, singalong, etc)

Check us out January 6-8 for the first GC Marathon: Sonic The Hedgehog!
